Is oil-based or water-based drilling mud easier to dewater?

Water-based mud is easier: bentonite and barite in WBM dewater to 30 to 40% moisture on a membrane press at 1.5 to 2.0 MPa with a plain PP monofilament cloth, whereas oil-based mud cuttings need PTFE-coated cloth, an enclosed frame and solvent-resistant seals, and settle at 35 to 45% moisture.
